Blue Eyelids

Text from The Northern Miner (QLD), 28 June, 1933:

False eyelashes are being worn and smart women add to an already vivid make-up, blue pigments for the eyelids according to travellers who returned to australia by the Jervis Bay. Fingernails and hair were both varnished, although the material used was different According to Mrs Olga Munro and her daughter, Miss Olga Munro, who had spent several months in london. The effect of this definite artificiality was not bizarre, however. Rather was it immaculate and the new styles of hair-dressing, rather like a wind-blown bob, only shorter, was most becoming to young women. Miss Munro said there was no medium in hair-dressing. The coiffure was either long or short. Laquer was sprayed to keep it in place.
