Blue Eyelids

Text from The Northern Miner (QLD), 28 June, 1933:

False eyelashes are being worn and smart women add to an already vivid make-up, blue pigments for the eyelids according to travellers who returned to australia by the Jervis Bay. Fingernails and hair were both varnished, although the material used was different According to Mrs Olga Munro and her daughter, Miss Olga Munro, who had spent several months in london. The effect of this definite artificiality was not bizarre, however. Rather was it immaculate and the new styles of hair-dressing, rather like a wind-blown bob, only shorter, was most becoming to young women. Miss Munro said there was no medium in hair-dressing. The coiffure was either long or short. Laquer was sprayed to keep it in place.

20s/70s

Tracked down a photo of a favourite maxidress of mine & Sarah's. We've been thinking about it a fair bit recently because it sports the most splendid 1970's illustrations of 1920's flapper gals. We're all about the era-meld at the moment. 50's/80's is my default setting, with occasional excursions into 40's/70's.
It really was such a gorgeous summer sundress. If only there was a family snap of Sarah & I in our matching dresses - if my memory serves it was a 1979 Christmas present for us both?
I would wear that shimmylicious slip again in a click of some castanets.

My photoface hasn't changed much, the cheesey grin is just older & mouldier now!
